Craig Wright is not the only one in the crypto-verse with a love for lawsuits. His wife, Ramona Ang also seems to share this strange “legal fetish.”
According to documents published by the England and Wales High Court (Commercial Court,) Ang filed a lawsuit against the exchange Reliantco Investments Limited for closing her account, causing losses of approximately 200,000 USD.
The documents reveal that Ang invested $200,000 worth of Bitcoin (BTC) in UFX, which she converted into $700,000. At that time (August 10, 2017) Reliantco tried to close her account. Ang explains that her BTC positions would have a worth approximately 1.1 Million USD by the time the lawsuit was filed.
Ramona Claims Reliantco Irresponsibly Shut Her Down. Reliantco Claims She Broke The Rules
The wife of the self-proclaimed Satoshi Nakamoto told the court that (despite the strong bearish streak that led BTC to lose about 80% of its value,) the current cost of these positions would be close to 3 million dollars today.
Stated very broadly, the net result of Ms Ang’s activity through her UFX account was to turn c.US$200,000 into c.US$700,000 by the date on which Reliantco purported to terminate the account, 10 August 2017. By the end of August 2017, when Ms Ang says she tried to close the account and withdraw her funds (including investment gains), she claims her positions should have returned c.US$1.1m to her. In her primary case as to quantum, she extends the claim to an allegation that Reliantco prevented her from turning that US$1.1m into what would have been (she says) c.US$2.5m by the time she commenced these proceedings and over US$3m today.
She explained that Reliantco asked her to comply with its KYC policies, which she agreed to, even though she could not read the terms of the contract because one of the hyperlinks was broken.
Reliantco explained to the court that Craig Wright’s wife had invested in UFX as a professional trader. This contravened the terms and services accepted by Ang, who was categorized as a retail client.
The judge dismissed Reliantco’s claims, however, at the end, the judge concluded that Ang’s application “has failed and is dismissed”
Birds of a Feather Flock Together, Specially if There is Some BTC Involve
It seems that even though they love lawsuits, the Wrights tend to fail when it comes to proving their claims.
Mr. Craig Wright recently caused controversy in the ecosystem by initiating a series of complaints to various media and personalities who questioned his claims of being Satoshi Nakamoto.
One of the first to publicly share the information was Peter McCormack known for its podcast “What Bitcoin Did”.
According to the letter, Craig Wright expects those who receive it to publicly apologize, accept that Wright is Satoshi, and testify in court.
Besides McCormack, other influencers who have received “the letter” are Roger Ver and Vitalik Buterin, along with a significant number of media outlets that have reported news covering the flaws in Wright’s alleged evidence.
